HDFC Bank has notified its customers that UPI (Unified Payment Interface) services will be unavailable on two specific days this November due to scheduled maintenance. The suspension will affect both financial and non-financial transactions, and the bank has urged customers to plan their transactions accordingly.
When Will UPI Services Be Unavailable?
- November 5, 2024 (Tonight)
HDFC Bank will temporarily halt UPI services for a two-hour window on November 5, starting from 12:00 AM to 2:00 AM. During this period, customers will not be able to make or receive payments using UPI platforms linked to HDFC Bank accounts. - November 23, 2024
The second scheduled downtime will occur on November 23, 2024, from 12:00 AM to 3:00 AM. Similar to the first instance, UPI services will be unavailable for three hours, so users are advised to complete any urgent transactions beforehand.
What You Need to Keep in Mind
- No UPI Transactions: During these periods, neither financial nor non-financial UPI transactions will be possible. This includes payments through apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and others linked to HDFC Bank.
- Banking Services Unavailable: Both savings and current accounts linked to HDFC Bank will be affected, and HDFC Bank’s RuPay card will also be unavailable for UPI transactions during this downtime.
- Merchant Transactions Impacted: Retailers or vendors who rely on HDFC Bank’s UPI services for accepting payments will also experience disruptions.
Why Is This Happening?
HDFC Bank has explained that this planned downtime is necessary for system maintenance, ensuring the smooth functioning of UPI services in the long run. The maintenance has been scheduled during late-night hours to minimize disruption for customers.
Alternatives for Transactions
While UPI services will be unavailable, customers can still make transactions using other methods like NEFT or IMPS, both of which will remain operational.
